"Mysticism, however, is dedicated first and foremost not so much to serving God as it is to enjoying God, that is, to perfecting not the worship of God but rather the ecstatic experience of God."

Blue In Green | Miles Davis

I’ll never be able to tell you what my top ten favourite records are, or even my top ten. I know there’s some Dylan in there somewhere, and there’s probably some Tribe, too. I can however, say that with complete certainty, the first time I heard Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis, I knew that I had a favourite.

The word ‘perfect’ gets thrown around a lot these days, especially by me, but there is no other word that even begins to describe that album. Every bar seems to be better than the one before it. With the history behind it, the accompanying musicians, and the music that comes from it, there is no doubt in my mind that its the greatest jazz album of all time.

Go do yourself a favour, and listen to Kind Of Blue today. Go buy it on vinyl for extra points.

Happy 86th Mr. Davis, and thank you.
